Just a few words

I was reading about writers that seem to spend very little time writing words down / only an hour or day or a few hundred words a day (of course they spend hours thinking and researching and dreaming and that’s writing too) and I was thinking about this – setting a very long writing goal each day – 2000 for example – feels like a chore. You slog onwards trying to reach your goal and get sick and tired of the whole thing.

But a quick few words – well, that’s doable even on a bad day, isn’t? And if you find yourself writing more because you’re in the flow – that’s good. And if you can’t manage more because of time or other pressures – well, you’ve achieved your goal and not worn yourself out.
