First Book Launch

Yesterday I had my first book launch. It was for my book, House at Baker Street, at the lovely Alef bookshop in Baker Street. I think it’s fair to say that beforehand, I was terrified.

I’m not good with meeting people. I can go on stage, fine, but then I’m pretending to be someone else, with a script. Doing this is all me, and that scares the living day lights out of me.

But…everyone was lovely. Everyone was very kind. I did a reading, and then a Q and A and everything went beautifully, and I actually enjoyed it at the end.

The days when an author could just hide at home are gone, unfortunately for private souls like me. We have to get out there and meet people and be friendly and charming. I have to tell you, as someone who dreaded it, it’s not as bad as it seems.
