Social Networking – a Waste or a Buzz by Karen Fainges

Social networking sites like Facebook and myspace, are wonderful places to join for free, connect with the world and waste a lot of time. So, is it worth being on there to promote your writing?

Depends. Basically, if you let it distract you, then it can be a real problem. If you put yourself up on there and visit regularly to keep your readers (and prospective readers) in the loop, it is a wonderful thing. The main thing to ask yourself is “do I still write?” If the answer is yes, then I would say it is worth doing. You get an amazing amount of feedback, and often it seems if the whole world seems to be checking facebook first. It seems like it has almost overtaken Google for some things. One of those things could be your book.

  1. I enjoy Facebook and in fact, I found it to be a suitable replacement for the chat rooms.

The only way it becomes a waste of time, is if you spend all of your time on it playing computer games.

  2. I agree 100% unfortunately, the games are sooo good 🙂
